This committee brings two to three speakers or groups to Hillcrest each year for school-wide assemblies that support enrichment in social-emotional learning, cultural arts and STEAM topics.

TBD – Wheel of Wisdom

Field Trips & In-Class Experiences Co-Chairs:
Annie Snyder Lukachik (Grades K-2) & Katie Richert (Grades 3-6)

The Hillcrest PTA provides each classroom with a budget for field trips and/or in-class experiences, and this committee helps teachers identify opportunities and coordinate the experiences. These field trips are in addition to those funded by District 58.

Examples of PTA-funded experiences include:

• K-2 students traveling to the Tivoli Theatre to see a children’s play
• 3rd grade students taking a Chicago architecture boat tour
• 4th grade students visiting Isle a la Cache Preserve
• 5th grade students volunteering at Feed My Starving Children
• 6th grade students attending Medieval Times
• In-class experiences are often facilitated by High Touch High Tech, which brings fun and interactive hands-on science experiments to Hillcrest classrooms
