Tivoli Theatre
Committee Chairs: Katelyn Whoriskey & Helen Petrillo
Shadows: Megan Allison, Missy Holtrup, Alissa Elberts
The Hillcrest Variety Show is one of the most anticipated events of the year! It’s an incredible opportunity for our Hound Dogs to showcase their talents and express their creativity. This event not only helps build confidence but also encourages teamwork and supports students as they overcome any nerves about performing or speaking in front of an audience.
Registration:
- Choose one ADULT from your child/children’s act to function as the Act Coordinator. This person will register the act and be the contact person for the Variety Show chairs.
- The Act Coordinators can REGISTER HERE starting at 6 pm on January 6.
- All parents/guardians of participating students must complete and submit this Permission Slip/Waiver by Feb. 2. A separate form must be completed for each student.
Please note:
- Be sure to review our FAQs (see below) about putting acts together.
- As in past years, only one performance of a song will be allowed in the show. If there are duplicate requests for the same song, the first group to register will get to perform it. You can view the songs that have already been chosen on this spreadsheet, which will be updated as acts are registered.
- There will be two Act Previews (Feb. 17 and March 24) for the students to run through their acts on the Hillcrest stage. We will also host a Dress Rehearsal at the Tivoli Theatre on April 15. Details will be shared with Act Coordinators once all the acts are registered.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Who can participate? Any Hillcrest student can participate, either by themselves or in a group. Sorry, no adults or non-Hillcrest siblings may be included except under special circumstances. Students may only perform in one act in the show.
What can students perform? Students may perform just about anything that shows a talent or creativity, including singing, playing an instrument, dancing, skits, poetry readings, gymnastics, martial arts, hula hooping … you get the drift! No lip syncing or air guitar acts.
How long do the acts have to be? Acts can be from 30 to 90 seconds long. If your student is in a large group, extra time may be granted based on the act.
What if my act includes music? If your act includes music, both the clip you use in the act and the entire song content must be school appropriate. Final discretion will be with the Variety Show Co-Chairs. Note that in order to avoid multiple acts performing the same song, each song may only be used once in the show. Song selection is first come, first serve, so choose quickly! Please click on these instructions to add music: Hillcrest Variety Show _Submitting Music.
Can I use props? Yes, as long as they can easily be taken on and off the stage. Microphones, gymnastics mats, chairs, and electric keyboard will be provided. All other props must be supplied and managed by the students.
Who organizes the acts for kids? Older kids (4th through 6th) may be able to manage a routine by themselves. Younger kids will need a parent to organize practices and help with routines and choreography. This is a great opportunity for kids to do something fun together and perform in front of their fellow Hillcrest friends, guests, and family.
I am new to Hillcrest. Who can I contact to learn more about the Variety Show? You can contact the chairs Helen Petrillo and Katelyn Whoriskey at HillcrestVarietyShow23@gmail.com
